Have you heard from a friend of a friend that there is a way you can watch NFL games online without going to jail and meeting up with San Diego Chargers wide receiver Vincent Jackson? There are a few ways to do it, some of which are legal, but only one of which is easy to figure out and stable enough to actually try. This is through DirecTV's NFL Sunday Ticket with Supercast. By now you already know that you can get over 200 games of NFL action every season, and watch most of them in high-definition television. However, DirecTV proposes that you can do the same thing online by logging into a sports site with a given password and stream content on your computer.
The NFL technology that allows this stream is called Supercast and is compatible with any Windows PC. Supercast lets viewers watch live NFL streams on a laptop or PC via their Internet browser (Flash compatible) or with the Adobe AIR, an environment program said to be versatile with many types of web stream programming. With these options sports fan can watch coverage on a full screen. There is also a new option called mini-mode, which lets viewers watch NFL games on a small screen. This is ideal for busy people who must work while they watch.
What is required in order to run Supercast? The processing speed of the unit must be industry standard, at least 2 gigahertz. In addition, streaming broadcasts do require a high speed Internet connection. Many hotels are now offering high speed Internet along with their basic amenities, so ask about this option. Verify that your Internet connection has a minimum speed of at least 360 kbps.
For a time, Macintosh users were unable to take advantage of this technology. However, as of 2009 now Mac or PC owners can enjoy NFL Supercast provided they run Windows 2000 or high (including XP or Vista) or a new Apple operating system such as Mac OS X v10.4.9. Aside from these needs, no special hardware is required for NFL Supercast. Commercial software may help the viewing experience, but most software programs that enable viewing are free to download.
Along with live NFL coverage, you can also log in and enjoy The Red Zone Channel, with its flipping options and latest scores and stats. Even if you don't have a high-end portable system you can still login through an Internet connection through a PDA or cell phone and receive up-to-the-minute updates and even game highlights, if your phone allows for video capability.
If you have ever missed an important game because you were out on business or delayed visiting with friends or family then you can certainly appreciate DirecTV's offer. Now you don't have to rely on a radio update or a Google story 50 minutes after the fact. You can get live NFL coverage with DirecTV's Supercast feature.
Take advantage of satellite TV technology now...as of 2009, the same online option is being offered for NBA League Pass!
